Please Don't Call Them "Seconds"

I'm back with a pet peeve. Please do not call "beats" or "counts" "seconds." Yes, they all have to do with time, BUT "a second" is a specific unit of time. Beats/Counts can go faster or slower depending on the music. A metronome gives you beats per minute...anywhere from 40 beats per minute to 200 and something beats per minute. ONLY when there are 60 beats per minute do you hold a quarter note for "a second." This doesn't happen that often, and it's still a number of beats that just happen to correspond to seconds on a clock.

ALSO, in music a "second" is an interval (e.g. C to D), not a length of time.

Yes, this turned into a mini-rant, but please, don't call beats or counts seconds. Please. Just don't. Thank you.
